I'm Mitko! And before becoming the astonishing Egyptian tour guide I am today, I was a psychology professor with quite an obsession for how humans connect with one another. My sabbatical research on cultural psychology turned out to be a life-changing journey. It got me helping visitors not just discover the physical manifestations of wonders in Egypt but the deep human stories that make this country truly special. Based in Cairo and Sharm el-Sheikh, I have designed tours based on the psychological and emotional lenses of dweller shaping responses to Egyptian culture. Indeed, of course we go for the bustling wonders such as pyramids and ancient temples in Hurghada, but I am more interested in understanding the human experience behind these monuments, from ancient burial practices to modern family traditions. Each tour reveals how Egyptian culture has shaped human behavior and beliefs through the ages. My excursions provide a mixture of traditional sightseeing along with some meaningful cultural encounters. One day we might be analyzing the psychological symbolism in ancient tomb art, the next sharing stories with local families about how traditions shape their daily lives. I believe that understanding the human side of Egyptian culture augments visitors' association with this country in a more intimate level. Human psychology and cultural identity focus on my tours. In one discussion, we might be sifting through the nuances of the ancient Egyptians' perception of death, in another, we'd be dissecting how modern communities are able to persevere with traditions despite ever-changing modernity, or experiencing just how powerful social bonds are in traditional markets; you will discover a new perspective of the human spirit every next day. I really enjoy helping visitors to realize that Egypt is not just a collection of ancient monuments; it is a living testament to the unending search for meaning and connection by humanity.
