Overview

My name is Derek, and I\'m a creative digital designer who\'s been working as a freelance graphic designer since 2012. I specialize in Branding, Logo Design, Website Design, and Digital Marketing. As a designer, a value the importance of creating aesthetic and practical, innovative solutions.

​Unlike other professionals working in my field, I possess a Political Science BA and Graphic Design BA. As such, I\'m able to research and analyze current design practices and trends to strategically develop effective digital campaigns.

I currently work in D.C. as a Graphic Designer & Web Analyst contractor at the Administrative Office of the United States Courts. There, I create digital and print graphics, design e-newsletters, track and record analytics, complete website testing, create training videos, and assist in administrative and marketing tasks as needed. 

When I\'m not working, I strive to increase my knowledge and skill set through taking training courses in design, coding, marketing and other subjects of interest. I also enjoy hiking, researching, blogging, exploring real estate, and playing video games & board games. My career goals are to continue to develop and grow as a designer, build connections through networking, and to find a way to blend my love for design with my love of research and politics in order to make a difference.
