“Online marketing sounds great, yet it takes a lot of time. What can I do right now?”
This is maybe the most understandable question that we’re asked at our
SEO agency for attorneys, rehabs, and so many others.
I try to put something that addresses that in every blog and podcast. I do that whether it’s for Website Depot (like this) or one of our clients’. After all, that’s where “value” really comes from. Something that someone can use right now – that’s valuable. (And not just words.)
There are a couple
Reach Out to Your Customers on Social Media Quickly
I’m going to go on a limb and say that, at some point in the course of your workday, you’re on social media.
If you’re a marketer or small business owner, it pays to at least look at your mentions/comments/feeds/ from time to time.
This wonderful aggregation of statistics explains exactly why.
Look at numbers ten and eleven.
“Answering a complaint on social media can increase customer advocacy by 25%.”
“79% of consumers expect brands to respond within a day of reaching out over social media, but average brand response rates across all industries are lower than 25%.”
Think about that.
All you have to do is respond to a customer to look that much better.
It’s natural to think: “I don’t want to respond to a complaint on social media. Then, I have to have this out in front of all these people.”
Well, not necessarily.
You could tell them you want to hear more about what happened, give them an email address/place to talk to them. Even give them a call.
In the span of (maybe) five minutes you could do some real good for your company.
(Really) Look at Your Competition
It may be unpleasant, but if you have a few minutes where you’re looking to help your company, this can do the trick.
Look at your competition’s website, their social media, who they follow, keywords they rank for, etc.
A real, objective look at what they’re doing can give you insights. If nothing else, it can inspire you to do (or try) something different.
Remember: it doesn’t have to be something you’re copying from them or anything of the sort. It could even be that you see how they’re doing something you don’t like. Then, you can think about a way to do it better.
I’m not saying you have to sit and glare at their Twitter feed for hours on end or something. But, if you need some way to help your company right now, this can help.
Often, it can serve to “jog your brain.” If you’re looking for a way to start “thinking outside the box,” this can really help.
